This policy explains what SFSocial stores on your device, and why. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

The short version: we store only what is needed to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking technologies of any kind.

1. About SFSocial

SFSocial is a community-first social and dating app for adults. You meet people through shared interests and public communities, and move into private conversations only when both people agree to it. Dating features are optional and switched off by default.

Section 1 of our Privacy Policy describes the app, how it works and why it was made in full.

SFSocial is under active development. If we add anything to this page, in particular if we ever introduce analytics, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it. We will not start analytics on the strength of a quietly updated policy.

2. What we store on your device

"Cookies" is the common name for this, but SFSocial is available as an app as well as a website, so the underlying technology varies by platform. What matters is what is stored and why.

WhatWhereWhyHow long
Sign-in sessionBrowser local storage on web; secure device storage in the appsKeeps you signed in so you do not have to re-enter your password on every visitUntil you sign out, or the session expires
App settingsBrowser local storage on web; app storage in the appsRemembers your theme, language, and interface preferencesUntil you clear it or sign out
Navigation stateTemporary memoryRemembers where you were during multi-step flows such as signup or password resetDiscarded when you close the app or tab
Push notification tokenProvided by your operating system or browserLets us deliver push notifications you have enabled. Android and web onlyUntil you sign out, uninstall, disable notifications, or the token expires

All of these are strictly necessary for the service to work, or are settings you chose yourself. There is no consent banner because we do not store anything that requires consent. If that changes, we will ask you first.

3. What we do not use

We do not use:

  • Analytics of any kind. No Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Plausible, Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog or equivalent.
  • Crash or error reporting services.
  • Advertising or targeting cookies. We run no advertising and work with no ad network.
  • Social media pixels or share-tracking.
  • Cross-site or cross-app tracking, or any behavioural profiling for advertising.
  • Fingerprinting techniques.

These are not aspirations. No such service is integrated into SFSocial today.

4. Third parties

Three things reach outside SFSocial while you use it.

GIF search. If you open the GIF picker, your device contacts Klipy directly to fetch GIFs. Klipy receives your IP address and your search terms. This only happens if you use the GIF picker. If you never open it, nothing is sent. Klipy may set its own storage on your device, which is outside our control.

Link previews. When someone shares a link, our server fetches the preview, not your device. The linked website sees our server, not you, and cannot set anything on your device from the preview. If you then tap the link and open the site yourself, that site's own cookie policy applies.

Bot protection. When you are shown a CAPTCHA challenge, Cloudflare Turnstile receives your IP address and may set a short-lived token to confirm you passed. This happens only at the moment of a challenge.

5. Your choices

Signing out

Signing out clears your session and your push notification token from the device.

Notifications

Push notifications are available on Android and web only. You can turn them off at any time:

  • In SFSocial: Settings, then Notifications
  • Android: Settings, then Apps, then SFSocial, then Notifications
  • Web: your browser's site settings for sfsocial.app

You do not need to uninstall the app to stop notifications.

Browser controls

On the web version you can clear site data or block storage through your browser's settings. Blocking storage will prevent you from staying signed in, because the sign-in session is stored on your device. Private or incognito browsing works, but you will have to sign in again each time.

Apps

On Android, Windows and Linux, clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes everything SFSocial has stored locally.

6. Platforms

SFSocial is currently available on Android, web, Windows and Linux. macOS and iOS are not yet available. Where this policy refers to browser storage, it applies to the web version. The desktop and mobile apps use the equivalent local storage provided by the operating system.

7. Changes

We will update this policy if what we store changes. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. If we introduce anything that requires your consent, we will ask for it before switching it on, and we will tell you by email.
